TJSL’s Baseball Arbitration Team Competes Well at Tulane Event
TJSL’s Baseball Arbitration Team made a great showing, but didn’t repeat last year’s first-place finish in the 2013 Tulane Baseball Arbitration Competition – winning their first and second round match-ups and just missing the quarter-finals by losing in the third round.
The team of Ryan McBride 3L, Ismael Iniguez 2L and Sam Ehrlich 2L bested St. John's and Loyola in the first two-rounds, but lost to Chicago-Kent in the third round.
“TJSL’s team received strong praise from judges, as well as fellow competitors,” said the team’s faculty advisor, Professor Randy Grossman. “TJSL continues to enhance its reputation as a leader in sports law, recognized nationally by other law schools. “
"We worked hard, prepared well, and look forward to competing again next year,” said the team’s coach, Jeremy Evans ’11. “We had a great team effort from both the students and alums and it was a great experience for all. I am very proud of the team's performance and the continued lessons learned we can put in our book of skills for Thomas Jefferson School of Law student's competing in the National Baseball Arbitration Competition at Tulane."
Others helping out with team TJSL included traveling coach Jonathan Stahler 2L, along with alumni Brandon Leopoldus '10, Justin Heim '12, and Dan Nguyen '12. Stahler is a Sports Law Fellow in TJSL’s Center for Sports Law & Policy.
In 2012, Sam Ehrlich, along with Justin Heim, and Dan Nguyen made up the TJSL team that won the entire competition.
